Traveling to London? Here’s What You Should Know

London is a favorite city for many—and for good reason. From the culture to the history and the exciting city nightlife, there’s something for everyone.

If you’re traveling to London, it’s best to know some things before you arrive. Knowing these things will help you get the most out of your trip and get you eager for a repeat visit.

(Most) Museums Have No Admission Fee

If you can’t afford to visit the Tower of London, there’s no need to stress. Even the Crown Jewels don’t hold a candle to seeing the Elgin Marbles or the Rosetta Stone at the British Museum—for free!

If you’re on the prowl for regal finery, head over to Victoria & Albert, which is both free and located close to the Natural History Museum and the Science Museum (both free as well).

Don’t Miss the Borough Market

There are a ton of markets in London, all spectacular in their own right. From the touristy ones (Spitalfields, Camden) to the not-so-touristy ones (Petticoat Lane), to the posh ones (Greenwich), you’ll find many options.

If we were to choose one that you definitely shouldn’t miss, however, it’s Borough Market. Not only is it astoundingly beautiful, but it also has almost anything you’d require.

Visit East London

It’s understandable that you’re excited to visit Trafalgar Square, the Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, and such popular tourist attractions. If you really want to get a feel for the sprawling metropolis, though, go to the surrounding neighborhoods.

East London is has everything! From amazing bars (Shoreditch), cool street art (Brick Lane), and nice family parks (Hackney), and so much more. Hampstead, Bermondsey, and Brixton are worth visiting too.

It’s Very Easy To Travel Outside of London

There are a bunch of interesting places you can check out that are situated a short train ride away from London. For example, Brighton is a beautiful town which is just an hour away by train. It’s the same with towns like Windsor and Henley.

Cheap Airfare to London

Remember that the UK is a lot easier to travel around than the States. Don’t just limit your trip to Central London and go out to explore this amazing country.

For Emergencies

Dial 999 in case you’re faced with an emergency or unforeseen situation. It’s also recommended to know where the nearest hospitals are located.
